DermaPaw
Skin and Paw Treatment
How to use DermaPaw
The best time to use DermaPaw is when your dog is ready for bed.
Apply DermaPaw to any irritated, dry, cracked or flaky skin and then put his stay-put socks on.
By using at bedtime, your dog will sleep comfortably in his socks, allowing DermaPaw to stay in contact all night without him or her trying to lick it off. In the morning, remove the stay-put socks and your dog can run around outside without getting his socks dirty, wet, or wearing holes in the soles.
The easiest way is to lay your dog on his or her back and rub DermaPaw on any areas that need it. Don't worry about your dog licking the DermaPaw from your fingers or his skin, it won't harm him. By keeping his legs in the air, you can coat all four legs and paws without your dog trying to escape.
The first few nights, they might not like the idea of DermaPaw rubbed onto their skin, or wearing the stay-put socks, but most dogs will learn the DermaPaw relieves their itching and the socks feel nice and comfortable. Our dog actually holds his legs in the air and waits for us to finish using DermaPaw and putting his socks on. When he gets up, and we've adjusted his socks, he likes to run around and show off.
It will be very obvious, very quickly that your dog feels better after you have applied DermaPaw and put his or her socks on. You'll notice your dog stops biting and licking at his skin almost immediately and settles down for a good night's sleep without chewing on his feet and legs.
In the morning, take the socks off before he goes outside to keep them clean and wait until bedtime to use DermaPaw again.
We found that an application every few nights actually works better than every night. You can tell how much and how often to use by how much your dog bites or licks at his itchy skin. If he or she acts like they are uncomfortable, apply a coating of DermaPaw, put on his socks and he or she should stop chewing and licking at his or her skin almost immediately.
Stay-put socks help prevent your dog from licking the affected area and keep Dermapaw on your dog’s skin and not in his mouth. They are designed to be soft, comfortable, and to not come off. Stay-put socks are held on by a harness made from soft elastic. We want to be clear that we are trying to help dogs with skin problems, not sell cute dog socks. We will admit though... they are pretty darn cute, and you can't help but laugh when you watch your dog walking around in them.
